Village of Flossmoor Sculpture Commission With a generous donation from a local townsperson in this suburban Chicago community, the public art commission launched a program to feature large scale sculpture in its public spaces. The highlight of this project was to commission an important artist to create a unique work for the central plaza of the village. With careful consideration and a thorough review of both local and nationally known artists, we worked with the commission to select New York artist Judith Shea, who created a poignant and beautiful bronze sculpture of a child poised on a rock in the city center. Judith Shea is an artist of considerable merit and accomplishment with
major works in museums like the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, the
Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis and the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas
City to name a few. The project was smooth from its beginning to installation
and the work met with overwhelming approval from village residents. |
